Recollections of a Personal Passover

The talk will focus on the last chapter of Gavriel Shapiro’s struggle with the Soviet regime, between the spring and the fall of 1972, for his right of repatriation to the State of Israel. The talk is based on Gavriel Shapiro's recently published autobiographical book "Thanksgiving All Year Round" (2016) on the History of Soviet Jewry after WWII, the rise and development of Jewish national awareness and the exodus of Jews from the Soviet Union
